The Resolver Configuration interface allows you to use a configuration wizard to edit the /etc/resolv.conf
file. This file contains the nameservers that your server queries to resolve domain names into IPv4 or IPv6 addresses.
Warning:
If you do not configure these resolvers correctly, your server will not connect to the Internet.
After you navigate to this interface, click Proceed to continue to the next interface.
Configure resolvers
Your server requires at least two resolver IP addresses. You can also add an optional third address.
Note:
While cPanel & WHM does not require a third resolver IP address, we recommend that you use a third resolver IP address. An additional resolver helps to ensure your server's uptime if you experience problems with either of your other resolvers.
To configure your resolvers, perform the following steps:
-
Enter the desired IPv4 or IPv6 addresses in the Primary Resolver and Secondary Resolver text boxes.
Note:
Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to obtain resolver IP addresses.
- To configure a third resolver, enter that IP address in the Third Resolver text box.
- Click Continue. A confirmation message will appear.
Note:
If your server cannot connect to the Internet after you configure your resolvers, check the /etc/resolv.conf
file to ensure that it contains the IP addresses that you specified.
