Manage SSL Hosts

Manage SSL Hosts

The Manage SSL Hosts interface allows you to share and delete installed SSL certificates, and enable or disable SNI for mail services.

Shared SSL Certificate

This section of WHM allows you to share an SSL certificate. Your customers can use a shared SSL certificate to access your website via the mod_userdirmodule. For more information about the mod_userdir module, read our Apache mod_userdir Tweak documentation (Home >> Security Center >> Apache mod_userdir Tweak).

To share an SSL certificate, select the desired certificate from the menu and click Share. The system will redirect you to a new interface that contains a confirmation message.

Note:

If the interface does not list any certificates, you must create and install a new SSL certificate. To create and install a new SSL certificate, use WHM's Generate an SSL Certificate and Signing Request interface (Home >> SSL/TLS >> Generate an SSL Certificate and Signing Request) and WHM's Install an SSL Certificate on a Domain interface (Home >> SSL/TLS >> Install a SSL Certificate on a Domain).

Disabled Shared SSL Certificates

To disable a shared SSL certificate, click Disable next to the SSL certificate under the Shared SSL Certificate heading. The system will redirect you to a new interface with a confirmation message.

Installed SSL Hosts

Note

To open a secure website and verify that its SSL certificate works, click the domain name under the Domain heading in the Installed SSL Hoststable.

The Installed SSL Hosts table displays the domains with installed SSL certificates as well as the domains' information.

SNI for Mail Services

Warning:

Mail SNI is not compatible with Webmail and will not function for any Webmail connection. Webmail connections use the cPanel service SSL certificate.

To enable or disable the SNI for Mail Services feature, perform the following steps:

  1. Select the checkbox next to each domain that you wish to modify.

    Note:

Select the checkbox in the heading row to select all domains.

  2. From the SNI for Mail Services menu, select either Enable Mail SNI or Disable Mail SNI.
  3. Click Submit.

The following table describes the Installed SSL Hosts section:

Column
Description
Domains The domain or domains that use the certificate.
IP Address The IP address of the domain or domains.
IP Address Type The type of IP address.
Is Primary Website on IP Address?

Whether the listed website is the primary domain for the listed IP address.

Note:

This column does not appear on systems that do not support SNI, unless the cPanel account has a dedicated IP address.

Is Web SNI Required?

Whether the certificate requires Server Name Indication (SNI). Typically, a certificate requires SNI when there are multiple domains that share the same IP address.

Note:

This column does not appear on systems that do not support SNI, unless the cPanel account has a dedicated IP address.

Document Root The directory that contains the site's content.
Owner The account for which you installed the key.
Issuer The certificate's creation organization. If the certificate is self-signed, this column displays self-signed.
Expires The certificate's expiration date.
Key Size The length of the key's modulus, in bits.
Is Mail SNI Enabled?

Whether the certificate has Server Name Indication (SNI) enabled for mail services. Mail SNI configures the mail services to use the SSL certificate for your domain instead of the server's default certificate.

Note:

This column does not appear on systems that do not support SNI, unless the cPanel account has a dedicated IP address.

Actions
  • Make Primary — Click this link to make the website the main domain on the shared IP address.
